Which Is Your Favourite Blog Post?

Back in February I asked you which was your best blog post, the one that you would pull out of the bag to show who you are as a blogger to all potential new readers.

I read a lot of blog posts that day, all of them fabulous, and yet many people didn’t feel like they could give me one because they hadn’t been blogging long enough or didn’t have a ‘best’.

I promised to wait a few months and do it again.

So here we are, this is for everybody, whether you took part last time or not.

Leave me a link to your favourite blog  post that you have written, the one you would like people to read if they are visiting your blog for the first time, or the one that you feel sums you up as a blogger, or the one you just like the most, got the most response or means something to you.

Basically any excuse you like, just post a link to one of your posts in my comments section – it can be recent or from years ago  and if you’ve only written 3 posts so far, well that’s fine too, just pick one of them for us to read so we can get a feel for who you are.

And of course, it goes without saying, have a read of some of the others too.  Ideally pick a blogger you haven’t read yet and go read their post – you may well make a new friend.

And you can never have too many friends in life, eh?

This is my favourite – a post I wrote way back in May 2009 about one child families. I enjoyed writing it at the time (it was one of those that just seemed to flow), and I enjoy looking back at it now. http://whatshappeningatmyhouse.wordpress.com/20… From a reading point of view, I most enjoy that any post that moves me to want to comment. And one that makes me want to comment even though I know that blogger has word verification (pet hate), is a particularly good one!

  2. Peabee72 says:

This is such a difficult choice to make. I move on really quickly from my posts, so generally I like the last one I wrote the most. The one I've chosen though is one that's resonating particularly strongly at the moment; my youngest child has just extended her pre school sessions and September feels like it's closing in. It's called “Not ready to be not needed” http://battlingon.wordpress.com/2010/03/23/not-…

And what about you? What's been your fave of late? xx

  3. Amy says:

    I'm choosing this post http://and1moremeansfour.blogspot.com/2009/08/l…

It's about me talking to inanimate objects and shows the funny, crazy side of me xx

  4. jfb57 says:

I'm posting 'Freedom' as it was one of my first posts & got me lots of visitors! http://jfb57.wordpress.com/2010/03/23/freedom/

    I like this idea Heather!

  5. MissSearles says:

This post is one of my most 'important' posts, Its not neccesarily my favourite but its important to have it on my blog as it shows how far I've come in the past few months.
Its been my most popular post (comment wise) and it was completly overwhelming to see just how much support there was from people. Its a post that I'm glad I wrote, if I hadn't god knows where I'd be at now.

  6. Cate P says:

I'm a bit like Peabee, I tend to think what I've just written is the best, mainly because I also like to think that I'm improving the way I write and not getting worse. My fave sentimental piece is the one about my Dad's toolchest, my fave rant is about Boobs and breast cancer, but I will have to share my latest..about bank robberies of all things, tsk…http://catep36.blogspot.com/2010/04/tale-of-three-bank-robberies.html

  7. snafflesmummy says:

I have been unable to share some of my best blog posts on my own blog due to family issues.

Here is a post written for parent confidential that means alot to me and I hope oneday I will have the courage to share publically.

    http://parentconfidential.wordpress.com/2010/04…

    Of the posts written on my own blog this is my favourite;

    http://www.snafflesmummy.com/2010/03/you-make-m…

Other than in passing I very rarely mention Mr C on my blog. The joy and happiness and simply blog post brought was more than any gift could have done.

  8. MrsW says:

Ooh – difficult! Probably Lucky Duck cos I swear and it's funny. Surprisingly no photo tho… hmmmm.

And what's your favourite post these days?

  9. Foodie Mummy says:

That's a hard one. After looking back, I'm not sure I have a best post. It depends what mood I'm in I think. But, I will say that my first one maybe was probably one of the best. http://foodiemummy.blogspot.com/2009/12/thank-y…

  10. londoncitymum says:

I did have a favourite from last year which had to do with my paranoid former employer, but due to legal reasons had to 'delete' it (I do still have a copy on file btw and one day will re-post it when they have gotten over themselves, sad bastards that they are).

However, this is currently my favourite, not least because I sat next to someone who read it and had tears of laughter running down her cheeks for a while afterwards. So it must be amusing to people other than me.

  11. I already joined in with this on the last go so I won't post another link, but I would like to reiterate what I said before about what a generous idea I think it is. That plus the fact that you took the time to read and comment on every linked to post – I just think it's a really nice thing to do. Full marks to you Heather.

P.S. There's a tag for you over at mine if you're interested.

This is my post – and believe it or not it is only from a couple of days ago but I am so proud that it was cherry picked to be a WordPress 'freshly pressed' blog on their homepage and I literally received a phenominal response – both in viewer stats and comments! It was all a bit mad to be honest! But it is a piece that I loved writing and one of my faavourite posts – and it would have been regardless of the fleeting 'fame' – but that was just the icing on the cake to be given such recognition for a piece that I was proud of : )

  13. vegemitevix says:

I played last time, but can I play again.. y'know I'm a joiner! I think I'll put forward 'This'll be the Day that I die' and Something Had to Give. Both very personal posts.

“I expected my last day to be different….”http://www.vegemitevix.com/2010/04/15/thisll-be-the-the-day-that-i-die/

    “I didn't recognise the woman in the mirror…” http://www.vegemitevix.com/2010/04/22/something…

BUT Heather, where's your latest fave post? I like the paranoia one, oh and the one about competition in blogging and stats and being ambitious..

  14. vegemitevix says:

Sorry me again, not sure why the link didn't work last time so here it is redux –

Morning! Heather you are so good – what fabulous interacting community ideas you have all the time. I am genuinely humbled by you blogging superb-ness

    http://claremacnaughton.wordpress.com/2010/01/0…

This is my favourite, which is more about who I am but I am such a peacock that I couple of favourites!! It's all wrong really. I should learn from you but metaphorically, you are Davina Macall and I am more like Jeremy Clarkson.

  16. Jen says:

Like Peabee72 I tend to move on quickly, so this is quite a recent one:) http://thekingandeye.blogspot.com/2010/04/chuck…

  17. aussiejazz says:

It's hard to choose one! I actually (sheepish to admit cos I feel big-headed) chuckle a lot when I read my posts on my old blog – http://www.blogdiddly.blogspot.com – and enjoy a lot of those funny ones.

But if I had to choose, it would probably be this one because it was such a pivotal turning point, both in my life as a blogger online and coming to terms with my changing RL responsibilities: http://didyabringyablogalong.blogspot.com/2009/…

  18. Well I am going to be cheeky and put up two because one shows that I can be humourous and the other that I can also be serious. That is important to me because I have two very strong sides to my personality : love having a pants wetting giggle but also a thought provoking discussion. Only read one if you think it's too much! http://wp.me/pNcKR-6j and http://wp.me/pNcKR-9K. Thanks for providing this forum Heather. I will get down to reading some of these today. I know a few I have read when they were originally posted.

I remember this blog post coming to me one night as I'd nearly tripped over several toys whilst going down the stairs.

It still makes me laugh today … http://www.arewenearlythereyetmummy.com/the-vir…

  20. Oh, this is a goodie. I've not given the subject much thought before but it is an interesting one to mull over.

  21. Dara says:

Well, I plan to write my best blog post today (if I can get two minutes amidst tax preparations, job applications, and my daughter's incessant talking). But until then, I think we know which one I'll be touting. A friend told me it reminded her of Jonathan Swift!!!

  22. veryboredincatalunya says:

hmm, I'm going to be greedy and post two links, the first is probably one of my more funny posts, not necessarily for the original post but for the hilarious comments. http://www.veryboredincatalunya.com/2010/03/cha…

The second whilst in no means my favourite, it was the hardest to write and by far the most viewed, it still gets hits now. I've put this one down because at the time I couldn't find any information that could help or inform me of what was really happening so the fact that I may have helped another woman in my situation makes me quite proud. http://www.veryboredincatalunya.com/2009/11/par…

  23. Here's mine, Heather (can't remember if I took part last time). It's paranormal so hope that's okay but when first started blogging it was mainly to promote my writing as a paranormal author.

The About Me section from my sidebar, jazzed up with photos. If anyone's interested in reading my blog, and wants to know who I am, this sums it up. It should give the reader a clue that there will be a lot of posts about my family, the Navy, and England!

    Pamela

  25. That is a good one. it's such a hard thing seeing them thrive away from you, isn't it?

Mine? Damn it, i'd hoped no-one would notice i hadn't put one of my own up. I couldn't decide. Pathetic. but as i am pressuring you all into doing it I probably should…I'd go with this 'real identity' one, it was quite fun http://www.rukakuusamo.com/notesfromlapland/201…

  26. lottieloves1 says:

What a lovely idea Heather. I am looking forward to reading some new posts. I think this is my favourite post so far as it was such a funny evening, and re-reading it I am completely taken back there. I think it displays my chaotic life and highlights everything I love – being frantic, crafting, spending time with friends and generally just muddling through things. Hope anyone who reads it enjoys it.

  27. IotaM says:

This isn't really my favourite post, but I feel it might be a good opportunity to resurrect this game (Heather, you'll enjoy this, I'm sure – it's your sense of humour, I think).

I remember that one. It made me laugh, but it raised some important issues too.

  30. Steve says:

I'm happy to make another offering! Apparently this one was a favourite with “my readers” and nearly won me a blogging award: A Frank Spencer Moment.

  31. ha ha ha, this was funny. The sort of conversations I often have with my appliances, but less swearing. lol

  32. I love the picture, although i'm not so sure about the crabs.

  33. A wonderfully honest post my dear. You know I'm glad you wrote it.

  34. macondo mama says:

Wow, I found this really hard to do, not because I love all my old posts but because looking back, none are quite as good as I remembered them :( or maybe I'm just in a critical, grumpy mood.

I guess I'll say this one, about 'raising kids on Argentina time': http://macondomama.blogspot.com/2009/12/raising…

  35. Crikey! that was a good post. And I now know what to do should i ever be in a bank whilst its being robbed.

  36. Two wonderful posts :) the first so heartbreakingly honest and the second so heart-warming and funny.

  37. oh man, that post was funny. I can't imagine what your loft must like! although…can you bare to keep them locked up their in the loft like that…isn't it a bit cruel. Have they got enough air? Light? what do they eat and drink?

  38. I remember reading this post, it is a good one.

  39. Ack! Hope they got over it fast – i want to read! always a good when you can make someone laugh that much.

Just got back from reading ha ha ha, great post.

  40. oh go one gappy, gis another. You know you want to…*cheeky smile*

  41. Very good post. how wonderful that it made it on to the front page! Brilliant! I love the look as well, very swish!

  42. I love both of these. Excellent choices! Mine…I dunno. I rather liked the 'real identity' one, that was quite fun.

  43. vegemitevix says:

Oh yes, yes Real Identity – it's down there folks under Popular Posts. Please read it. It's very good.

  44. okay, so you made me choke on my coke, Davina Macall? come on, I'm not THAT irritating am I? lol I do love Mr Clarkson though.

interesting post, it is always the women that end up doing the 'standing by' isn't it?

  45. ha ha ha, that was funny! Loved it.

  46. I shall have a look through your old blog some time, if you dont mind. The post you linked to was very thought provoking, so often we walk around with our heads in our world, not noticing what is going on around us. you did a good thing that day :)

  47. mrsmacnaughty says:

Ha ha – Davina's lovely!! She really is. I know her and she is really actually lovely! Like you!

  48. two excellent choices there my love! I loved both of these posts x

  49. northwestlondongirl says:

On Saturday, I am having the whole day to myself and I shall take that opportunity to read through as many of these blogs in your comments box as possible, what great entertainment. I scrolled through mine and picked this one as it made me laugh. http://www.northwestlondongirlinthecountry.blogspot.co...

It's not my favorite post of mine, but probably the one that sums me up the best, and explains my life basically these past few years:

    http://coffeedujour.blogspot.com/2008/09/confes…

This is wonderful — I'm excited to go through everyone else's favorite posts.

  51. I have her fitness DVD and actually loved her on that, she's just a bot too bouncy for me on Big Brother. Although to be fair, I haven't watched it since the 2nd season, I have no idea if she's still that bouncy.

Get you and your fancy mates ;)

  52. ha ha, excellent post. Sounds very similar to our house, except he'd probably get viscously assaulted by a goat on his way in!

  53. I LOVED this post of yours. Another fav of yours is the one you did about making friends in the playground.

  54. mrsmacnaughty says:

Yep – really very bouncy! Although we are not like BFF's – I know her dad and he introduced me.

  55. Two excellent posts! Loved the lady garden one, hilarious! The other was is such a brave, strong post and to think it might have helped others that were going through the same thing – wonderful. Something to be really proud of xx

For those of you who follow my blog – you may have noticed I havent actually WRITTEN anything of substance for a while, just tags and memes and silly things – as you all know now, thats cause Ive been busy with fingers in new pies talking what little spare time I had away.

So Im now looking forward to writing some proper stuff again!

    Love

LMAO – sorry I just write a blog post in your comments didnt I !!!!! ;)

  57. This is my favourite post -> http://mygoodlife.me.uk/blog/2009/12/31/the-end/ -> It was written on New Years Eve, and I think gives the best idea of who I am. :)

I'm now off to have a read around. :)

  58. vwallop says:

Well, I'm pretty sure I replied back in February, but I'm still going to reply again. This is a recent one, I like it because I made my parents happy by writing it, and it's quite personal. http://itsasmallworldafterallfamily.wordpress.c…

I find it very hard to choose, I like different posts for different reasons. What's your favourite post of yours? I'd like to read it…

  59. Oooh, this is super! thank you

  60. This is a good 'introduction to Pamela' post.

  61. mammydalby says:

I don't really write for other people, I'm pretty much about my family life and documenting it instead of doing a photo album, and for the farflung family to see the kids. I'd be a little unccomfortable with a lot of readers as I show my kids all the time.
But, occasionaly I do write more than a few sentances. This one is close to my heart just now:
    http://www.kidscraftandchaos.com/o/124-catriona…

  62. if only I could actually think of any to join in with! Maybe a couple of glasses of wine would help?

  63. It does sound like a super evening, well, apart form the wine incident :)

  64. ha ha, funny post, if not a little nail biting. You could have used it as an example of how not to do things at your meeting. Of course they would have fired you on the spot but…

  65. I have the same issues. I looked at a few of my own to put one in the post but none of them were quite as funny or clever or whatever as I remember them being.

This is a great post, it's got me thinking about the cultural differences between here and the UK now…

  66. This is a brilliant glimpse in to your life. wow, how different yours is to mine.

  67. This is such an honest post, and must have been quite hard to write. i hope it was cathartic for you and helped in some way. and I really hope things are easier for you now all this time later.

  68. I remember that post, it is a goodie! feel free to write a blog post in my comments any time you like :)

  69. wow, how times flies and how it changes us eh?

  70. Crikey missus, this is fantastic. LOVED it. I can't wait to read your travel blogging as you get going. Mine? no idea really. I like so many of them for different reasons and now I feel like I'm punking out…bugger.

  71. I can see why. A beautiful post, so heartbreaking.

  72. Definitely – it changes too quick for my liking.

Dot's almost 4 months old now and everything has changed again.

  75. Hmm, let's try and find one that isn't about my neighbourhood or books… Probably this one about childhood memories of Pancake Day, I think: http://hampshireflyer.wordpress.com/2010/02/16/…

  76. minervasmind says:

What a fab idea Heather. I did not join in last time because I missed that particular post. It is a wonderful way to discover new bloggers and as you say one can never have too many friends. The post I have chosen is one where I blended humour with stuff that is really important to me. More than that it inspired a comment from someone who never comments on blogs and that meant a great deal to me. So here it is http://mumsdaword.blogspot.com/2010/03/are-you-…

  77. Dara says:

Yes but I sent that one to Vix for tommorrow. So I thought I'd share the love. My actual favourite is an old one from back when I first started blogging http://www.readilyaparent.com/2009/12/walking-m…
It's maybe not as flashy as the others, but it was heartfelt.
I didn't get a chance to write the one I REALLY wanted to write today, so I've made notes and will post later. But I expect you'll like it.
Of course you'll like it. I'm brilliant you know!
BTW your disqus is really annoying at the log in bit below, it types the text in light gray and I can't read what I've written. what if I spell my name wrong?

    http://absolutelyalchemy.blogspot.com/2010/01/s…

  80. Hi there, this is a lovely idea! This post is one of my favourites. I write mainly about my visits to parks and green spaces with my daughter and sometimes about running in them. Most of the places I've included so far have been in the north west, although I'm branching out more. I've chosen this one, as I think it demonstrates that I'm not just writing reviews, I'd hope that someone might enjoy reading it whether or not they were ever likely to go to Whitworth Park and Art Gallery.
    http://parklover.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/whitw…
My absolute favourite is a post on Alexandra Park which them turned into a huge rant about the effect that the economic downturn might have on funding for the upkeep of parks – but it went on a bit, so I'll spare you!

  81. aussiejazz says:

Wait! Oh no, I changed my mind. Can I retract my first submission? Cos I reckon you'd actually really enjoy this one:

Am I too late? What a great idea. I think I missed it the first time round as early Feb was when I'd just started blogging as MD so nothing of consequence to talk of then. I'm going to have so much fun reading all these posts, think I'll have to bookmark this page and keep coming back to it there so many! Well, my favourite posts have always been the ones which are more reflective rather than the here and now. I really enjoy getting it all out and having something concrete to look back on. I know I'll be so glad I've done this as the years pass. My favourite post was about my Grandad and his bravery. Knowing I've finally got that story down before memory fades feels good. Here it is…

    http://thecurseofthemoderndilemma.blogspot.com/…

You are a superstar for doing this, such a great idea or was this simply one up from cleaning the cooker in packing avoidance tactics? ;-)

    MD xx

  83. You've closed comments on the post or something so I can't comment there, but wow, Dara, that was wonderful. And so true. We all do it, don't we? Both the judging and the risk taking.

  84. ha ha ha, definitely made me smile. :D

  85. This is lovely. Funny how pancakes seems to be more common year round these days.

  86. I don't know-quite a few to choose from:

http://www.newdaynewlesson.com/?p=44 -about life being made up of the little moments.

Have also been proud of the 3 posts I wrote on madmanicmamas but 2 links is enough…for now.

    great idea Heather.

  87. This is an interesting post, I'm not much of a leader type person these days. Too much hassle lol.

  88. ha ha ha, that was funny. Awesome tat, man.

  89. Cool surprise, I wish someone would organise that for me!

  90. Am imaging your swirling leaf dance, he he he, teachers are so cruel, eh?

  91. You most certainly can. especially with that post! That's the funniest things I've read in ages. Toodabin he he he he

  96. Hi again,
Great to get direct links to such awesome posts from some members.
I think I may have joined in last time and sadly posted this same link, still I really love this post because for whatever reason, I recall feeling 'in the zone' when I wrote it.
Going back through my posts to choose I see what dribble I write at times, still I think you just have to keep showing up so you're in the right place when inspiration truly hits.
Hope some of you enjoy my linked post and thanks.

  99. ooooh, how exciting. I HAVE to do two if that is ok, as I have “two audiences”:

    1) for the parent – my no sew bunting has been a MASSIVE hit, i see it as my signature post: http://redtedart.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/how-t…

    2) for the child & the parent – all my story + art posts, but particularly like the Pop Up card: http://redtedart.wordpress.com/2010/05/19/story…

PLEEEEEAAAASE run this again, as I know in 2 months i will have more favourites!!
