Losing It
This is Susie from New Day New Lesson. I have the fun of guest posting here because Heather is lucky to be off for a month to the UK so we get to have a bit of fun on her blog while she enjoys her family.
So while she is living it up, it appears that I seem to be losing it.
What you ask?
Well, it’s not my mind. Well maybe my memory is a bit lousy for a while now, but this post is not about those worries.
And no sadly, this is not about weight. Though I really do need to get a move on that because I have my nephew’s wedding in a few months and I would like to look slightly smaller than a hippo in the pictures.
It’s not my money I am losing. Or at least not any more than usual with 5 growing kids to support.
So what is it that’s bothering me? What is it that I am losing you ask?
It would seem that I am losing many many clumps of hair. Every day my shower drain is completely stopped up. I run my hands through my hair and I am left with clumps of hair in my fingers.
(On a side point, did you know that if you have something stuck in your teeth that you can’t get out and you have no dental floss, that a strand of hair works really well?)
Of course like so many things in life, hair loss is illogical. How can I be losing so much hair off the top of my head where I want it to stay put, but all the other places where hair is unwanted seems to be unaffected and thriving. Not fair! How can that make sense? Why the heck would my body want facial hair?
All I know is that if this continues I will be bald just in time for my nephew’s wedding in a few months.
I am losing and it’s gotta stop.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm Heather, an ex expat, now back in blighty and living in Lancashire. Which is just like Lapland only less snowy...and stuff.

LOL Heather that you filed this under serious. Sure it is a serious problem, but I was also making fun of myself.
Hope you are having a great vacation!
I'm a male living under the curse of male pattern baldness. If someone gives you the cure… please let me know.
My hairdresser assured me just the other day that everyone loses hair every day. We 'change' our hair in this way regularly. If you have long hair, you notice it more thanif it is short so try not to worry. It may make you lose your hair!
If it is a new thing would you be lacking in any vitamins or minerals? I really don't know. At the risk of offending you is it possibly just a seasonal thing, coming into summer animals moult (that was the possibly offensive bit!!) and we would have similar patterns……..maybe? Jen.
People do shed their hair at the end of winter. And sometime you tend to lose more hair just because of the way your hair is cycling through it's growth phases. But stress can also cause hair loss. You might want to up your B vitamins and do some yoga. Take some vitamin E to strengthen the hair shaft so that your remaining hair grows faster and stronger (and glossier). Dying it will also make it appear thicker.
And, if it continues, and you're not seeing new hair growth, see your doc and get your hormone levels assessed as it can be caused by thyroid issues or excess androgen.
This happened to client of mine during her very stressful and very litigious divorce, it was heartbreaking to watch her loose her hair when her world was crumbling around her too. She was so very brave about the hair and everything else too. Once life settled, it grew back and she has a full head of hair now. Moral of that story – go see your Doctor and downgrade the stress if possible. I hope you have a glossy mane soon

I have a couple of friends who lost hair. Both were sent to see a specialist who said, in sum, no-one really knows why it happens and there's not much that can be done. Great. But for both of them, it was only temporary. I think stress brings it on.
I would definitely share it!
Long hair is longer and you see it more often, but don't think you are supposed to see as much as I seem to be losing…
Lmao, and until you compared me to moulting animals I really liked you -lol. Just kidding, still do.
I do think that I am just not eating what i know is right for me.
Geez Dara, is there anything that you don't have detailed knowledge about or sound like an encyclopedia.
Downgrade stress eh? Who wants some of my kids.
It has been happening for a while. I am trying to make food changes and hoping that will help.
Naw, I'm like a walking repository of arcane knowledge. One of these days I'll get on Jeopardy and be famous.
