A Summer Tour Of My Farm
After I did a winter tour video a few months back some of you said you would like to see what it all looks like in summer once the snow has gone. So here you are, a video tour of my farm in the summer.
Enjoy.
And if you missed the winter one, you can find it here.
I'm Heather, an ex expat, now back in blighty and living in Lancashire. Which is just like Lapland only less snowy...and stuff.

I'm sorry…. did you say 20,000 new trees?!!?? Love the cute doggy, love your hair, love your lake (OMG!), the potatoes, the goat, the gorgeous cabin amongst the lush greenery….. ummmmmm, you can keep the moose and fox skins, though. But oh, Heather, it is just heavenly! Lovely, lovely space. Do you feel lucky? You should feel so lucky
Your videos are so wonderful, they build on the great place you have here (on your blog).
Going now. Gushing embarrassingly.
p.s. how warm does it get there in summer, at its warmest, would you say? Is 15º rather average or is that unseasonably cool?
thank you, yes I do feel lucky, all this space and beauty, it's really
amazing. and yes, i said 20,000 trees! I know! so glad i wasn't involved
in the planting. It took three of them about a week to get through them
all.
15C is unseasonably cold to be honest, this summer isn't shaping up so good.
Usually it's 18 – 25C with plenty of sun shine and with one hot week (over
25C) at some point. I have my fingers crossed that it's going to improve.
at this rate there will be no lake swimming this year.
Your hair looks fine! And so does the farm! All that space! What heaven! It all looks so clean and green!
Now I'm terribly jealous. That is just beautiful. I love the cabin and the horses and everything else. Ah well, I'll just have to make do with my new house! I suppose I can always look at the neighbouring cows and pretend they're my own lol!
I don't know which I like best, the winter one or the summer one. Emm, I'll have to think about that one…
somebody somewhere has trained you very well sir!
And yes, it is a lot
of space and incredibly clean. We are very lucky to live here.
I'm sure if you asked them they'd even let you clean up after them and feed
them and stuff. lol. i know when we had cows I would have loved someone to
come and do all that work for me. 2 horses are way easier than 30 cows.
There's a moose loose aboot this hoose! Love it. Fab place, how green are you planting 20,000 trees! My hubby would love to have a lake side property.
No, you didn't bore me on your tour, quite the reverse. Love the cabin – I'd love to have my own private sauna too.
It is lovely, although I worry a bit about the kids around the lake. thankfully so far they've shown no interest in it so far.
Tis nice
Especially the swimming in the lake bit afterwards.
Heather, I am filled with admiration and envy! The farm is absolutely beautiful. I have dear friends in southern Finland and have been lucky enough to spend time in their summer cottage by a lake, but I've never been as far north as you live. Quite a leap, to make a life for yourself in such a different culture and language (I only have about 10 words of Finnish and think I'm doing well if I remember any of them at the right time!). Have some cloudberries and nettle pancakes for me, and reindeer with lingonberries if you're that way inclined… the best I can do here is whip up some karelian pies and korvapuustit, and dream of a sauna by the lake
(hmmm, might be time to do some baking)
It is gorgeous, I am a country girl and when I see something like this the longing gets really strong *sigh* There wasn't a think wrong with your hair, only for you said it I wouldn't even have looked
20k tress is a great achievement, I hope they all grow now after all that hard work:) Jen
I loved this video, and good on you for taking on our strange Finnish sauna culture.
Helena xx
Gorgeous, I am very jealous.
Oh wow – a lake you can drink from? What an achingly gorgeous place to live – can't make up my mind if I like its summer plume or winter plume bestest
That;s lovely Heather, the lake is beautiful, absolutely, I guess I might get the odd day when I felt down like you did yesterday with all that overwhelming quiet and aloneness, but my goodness what a fabulous place to be bringing up kids. Betty x
What a beautiful place!! Just amazing. I'm so jealous. Living here in this pollution infested inferno with hardly any trees. Thanks for sharing this!!! Really really cool. xooxoxo
Thank you! It is a wonderful place to live, these days I really can't imagine living anywhere else.
Thankfully I wasn't involve in the planting! I assumed they would have some sort of machine to help with the plating but they did it all by hand!
Thanks Helena,
I think the sauna culture was probably the easiest thing to get used to! lol
Tis nice
Well, then you shall just have to come out an experience both
It really is such a wonderful place for the children, so much freedom…I can't imagine growing up somewhere like this.
You are welcome! Happy to share
You'll have to come out for a visit, escape your pollution filled inferno for a while
You think I haven't priced flights? Think I would have to leave everyone else at home – how sad… hahaha! not
yeah, that would be awful *snigger*
Still in love with Finland, I am. /sigh. Someday. Excellent video!
Your lake is GORGEOUS!!! It's like you live in heaven!
just like that, except with more mosquitoes
You better watch out or I'll be on your backdoorstep in about 2 seconds. Hehehehe.
You are always welcome my dear. Especially if you bring your son – he can
tell stories to my two whilst we sip wine.
