Snowmobiling to the Russian Border
The wonderful people at Ruka Safaris took me on a snowmobiling trip a few days ago to the Russian border; not far from the ski resort of Ruka. It was a 100km, 6 hour snowmobile trip through some of the most picturesque and enchanting scenery I’ve ever seen.
With the added bonus of having the rather handsome guide, Mika, riding in front of us. I managed to refrain from taking too many pictures of his bum.
You can read about the trip and see some more pictures here. It was a fantastic day, just what I needed to blow the cobwebs out of my brain. Thank you once again Ruka Safaris.

I'm Heather, an ex expat, now back in blighty and living in Lancashire. Which is just like Lapland... only less snowy and stuff.

those are amazing photos… shame there’s no bum
Thanks Eschelle, it was so beautiful. The scenery, not the bum.
I do like a safari guide with a good bum. It’s important when you have to spend so much time looking at the back of them.
Like a little gingerbread house – so beautiful. Looks like it should be boxed for the cake counter at Waitrose.
Betty, it was so beautiful, the most enchanting scenery I’ve seen. I loved every minute of it.
I came back to show ironside your pics – maybe you will do best of 10 ski-ing bums another time.
Incredible – looks like a cartoon world or something out of a snow globe!
Snowmobil trips = moron way of enjoying the outdoors without any appreciation for flora and fauna. Noisy, fast, not good for the environment. Skis or snowshoes are the smart way to travel in the backcountry in winter.
I am freezing just looking at those photos.
Oh, and I had to put my gloves on whilst typing.

WOW! Just… breathtaking!
Crikey- I’ve never seen snow like that before. How amazing.
wow – such beautiful sights! xx
I agree with Steve! My first thought was it looks like one of those Christmas cartoons!
And I admit, I quickly scrolled through looking for the bum, before going back to appreciate the beauty of the snow (while thanking God that we don’t have that much of the white stuff…..)
The photos are amazing – stunning x
Blimey, that second photo looks like some sort of elf kingdom. I may have watched Elf once too many times this Christmas, of course.
Stunning photos, though. Must have been an amazing experience.
What a brilliant experience and the photos are amazing. How did you ride and click simultaneously?
I always enjoy a good bum. And a safari.
PS Those photos are truly magical.
